AT a Department of Public Safety press conference on Monday, Commissioner Anthony Macaranas announced that DPS has rehired Adrian Pangelinan as public information officer.

Pangelinan takes over the PIO duties previously handled by Assistant Chief of Police Simon Manacop.

“He will be our PIO. He’s not new to the department — he had been here previously — and the good thing about Adrian is that he knows the ins and outs of the department. He works perfectly well with the personnel here, and of course, with the media — it’s fortunate that he decided to return,” Macaranas said.

According to the commissioner, the department aims to maintain transparency and keep the community informed about developments.

Plans to reinstate weekly crime reports for public awareness are also in the works, Macaranas said.

Pangelinan previously served as DPS’ public information officer from 2019 to 2022 and most recently worked at the Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation as a data specialist before rejoining DPS.

He emphasized the importance of community support and collaboration in sharing information.

“If the public sees something, say something, and share it with the department as well. Because we are a community, and it’s all about helping each other — and that’s the only way we get things done,” Pangelinan said.
