According to DPS spokeswoman Lei Ogumoro, the Emergency Management Office called DPS for assistance at 7:40 a.m. regarding a distressed vessel.
Ogumoro said DPS boating safety and the Commonwealth Ports Authority police launched the DPS rescue boat Zodiac III to respond to the call.
She said police officers located the 17-foot white and red fiber glass vessel and towed it back to the Smiling Cove Marina.
The operator, identified as 55-year-old Jose R. Sablan and crew member Isidro R. Sablan, were found to be in good condition.
Ogumoro said the responding Boating Safety officers inspected the boat and found no violations.
Police learned that the two men left the Garapan Fishing Base on their vessel and headed north toward Managaha for bottom fishing and trolling.
When they reached north of Managaha, the engine of their boat stalled. The operator attempted to repair it but was unsuccessful, prompting them to call EMO for help.
