DPS says it responded to 84 criminal and traffic incidents, and one distressed vessel on April 28-May 4

THE Department of Public Safety responded to 69 criminal incidents, 14 traffic-related cases, and one distressed vessel incident from April 28 to May 4, 2024. 

According to the police blotter provided by DPS, of the 85 incidents, 40 were 911 service calls to the police. 

Six individuals were arrested during the same period, DPS added. 

Police responded to one assault incident; three assault and battery incidents; one nuisance incident; three domestic violence incidents; 32 disturbing the peace incidents; two vandalism incidents; eight criminal trespass incidents; one child abuse/neglect incident; three burglary incidents; and 15 theft incidents.

As for traffic incidents, DPS said it responded to nine auto-auto crash incidents; two auto parked vehicle incidents; and three auto fixed object incidents. 

DPS likewise reported that Boating Safety responded to one distressed vessel incident during the same period.

DPS’ public information officer Police Sgt. Fred Sato said: “Please take note that the data provided indicates the number of 911 calls made for police assistance weekly.”

He added, “The criminal complaints received will be promptly referred to the Criminal Investigation Bureau for further investigation. In severe injuries and fatal traffic incidents, the cases will be immediately transferred to the Highway Patrol Investigations unit for further follow-up. Any boating-related incidents are followed up by Boating Safety investigation.”
