THE Department of Public Safety is investigating an assault incident that occurred Wednesday at Welcome Market in San Roque.
A viral video of the incident shows a man in a green shirt and dark hat striking a shirtless man with a bat.
Assistant Chief of Police and acting DPS Public Information Officer Simon Manacop said, “The incident happened [Wednesday] afternoon at the Welcome Market in San Roque.”
He added, “The person without a shirt encountered his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend inside the store. He was then confronted by the suspect at the entrance and struck with the bat.”
Manacop said the suspect is the new boyfriend — identified as the man wearing a green shirt and dark hat.
The DPS Criminal Investigation Bureau is investigating the incident.
