A former Saipan resident, Leon Guerrero was residing in Dededo and was a University of Guam student.

Officer III Ed Perez, day shift supervisor of the Guam Police Department’s Highway Patrol Division, said the case is still under investigation.

“It’s still open, we’re still doing more follow-ups on the case and the calculation of the speed,” Perez said.

The road conditions were determined slippery from rain based on reports from Dededo precinct officers.

“It was raining at the time and the road was wet,” said Perez.

Leon Guerrero was  driving alone in her Toyota Corolla early Monday morning along Route 15 in Yigo along a curve near Mt. Santa Rosa.

Police reports indicated that she lost control of her car, which went off road and slammed into a concrete utility pole.

She was transported to Guam Memorial Hospital but was pronounced dead at 4:25 a.m.  An autopsy performed on Leon Guerrero revealed she died from a skull fracture.
