TEN thousand eggs were up for grabs during an early Easter Egg Hunt at Sugar King Park in Garapan on Saturday morning.

Children, their parents and grandparents joined the egg hunt hosted by Delia’s Cup, a foundation of Delia Camacho, Saipan Mayor Ramon “RB” Camacho’s wife.

The children were divided into two groups: 2-6 years old and 7-11 years old. Prizes were given to those who found golden eggs and specially marked eggs.

Mrs. Camacho expressed her appreciation to the community, especially the children who joined what she said will be an annual event.

“This is new to me,” she said referring to organizing a public event. “But we need to show the children that the spirit of Easter is an important part of our Christian beliefs and values,” she added.

“We prepared about 10,000 [plastic] eggs so I hope that the children enjoyed the egg hunt. I would also appreciate it if members of the community who have other ideas for an activity would call me at (670) 285-5859. … Just give me a call and join me — let’s do this! One heart, one direction for the betterment of the community! Happy Easter to all!”

Mayor Camacho, for his part, also expressed his appreciation to those who participated in the event. He likewise encouraged community members to continue supporting the programs implemented by the Saipan Mayor’s Office.
