Election Commission certifies some candidates

CEC Executive Director Robert A. Guerrero said the initial lists were certified during the commission’s July 29 meeting.

Candidates have until August 10 to file their candidacy.

“Be it resolved that the Commonwealth Election Commission hereby duly certify the names of individuals listed in attachments A to C of this resolution as having met the requirements set by law for nominations as candidates,” CEC Resolution No. 09-001 stated.

The following were certified as of July 29:

For Covenant Party of the Northern Mariana Islands: Benigno R. Fitial/Eloy S. Inos (Governor/Lt. Governor), Jose Pangelinan San Nicolas (Mayor-2nd Senatorial District), Marian Deleon Guerrero Tudela (Mayor-3rd Senatorial Distric), Ramona Taisakan Rebuenog (Mayor-Northern Mariana Islands), Joaquin Hoashi Borja (Senate-2nd Senatorial District), Joseph Masga Mendiola (Senate-2nd Senatorial District), Ana Sablan Teregeyo (Senate-3rd Senatorial District) and Jacinta Matagolai (Senate-3rd Senatorial District).

Independents candidates: Juan Pan T. Guerrero/Joseph James N. Camacho (Governor/Lt. Governor), Ramon S. Deleon Guerrero/David M. Borja (Governor/Lt. Governor), Melchor Atalig Mendiola (Mayor-1st Senatorial District), Steve King Mesngon (Mayor-1st Senatorial District), Calista Taimanao Pendergrass (Senate-1st Senatorial District), and Paul William Camacho (Senate-3rd Senatorial District).

Nonpartisan candidates: Alfred Jr. Maratita Apatang (Municipal Council-1st Senatorial District), Arvin Cabrera Ogo (Municipal Council-1st Senatorial District), Brelinda Atalig Taimanao (Municipal Council-1st Senatorial District), Brian Manglona Mendiola (Municipal Council-1st Senatorial District), Eusebio Mendiola Manglona (Municipal Council-1st Senatorial District), Prudencio Atalig Manglona (Municipal Council-1st Senatorial District), Vincent Robert Castro Hocog(Municipal Council-1st Senatorial District) and Herman Tenorio Guerrero (Municipal Council-3rd Senatorial District).
