Acting Gov. Eloy S. Inos advised the general public to closely follow “the progress and evolution of this system.”
As of 5 p.m. yesterday, Tropical Storm Ma-On was moving west-northwestward and a tropical storm watch remained in effect for Pagan, Alamagan, and Agrihan.
Tropical storm force winds of 40 mph or more were possible within 48 hours.
The center of Tropical Storm Ma-On was about 380 miles east-northeast of Pagan; 385 miles east-northeast of Alagan; 380 miles east of Agrihan; and 490 miles northeast of Saipan.
Tropical Storm Ma-On was moving west-northwest at 11 mph.
This general motion was expected to continue during the next 24 hours with maximum sustained winds of 60 mph.
