During the “Briefing with the Boss” lunched at the Pacific Islands Club last week, Calvo reminded employers that their active support and encouragement is critical.
ESGR Guam-CNMI Committee vice chairman David J. Sablan, for his part, talked about the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act, and said discriminating against those who are in military service or have served should be prohibited.
He said employers cannot make returning National Guard member or Reservist to wait for a vacancy, go through “red tape” or paperwork before they can be reinstated in a company where he worked prior to deployment.
The event was organized by the CNMI committee volunteers Rose Igitol, Ed Salas and Janice Tenorio.
It was the first briefing conducted by the Guam-CNMI committee of the ESGR this year, Tenorio said.
She said the ESGR will continue to conduct similar luncheons with employers.
