“We have to meet monthly demands for rent, utilities, and communications,” she said.

EVM is hoping to get the support of at least 30 individuals who will each donate $20 to help keep the foundation open.

“We have been praying nonstop for provisions,” Ajoste said. “It hurts that we can’t answer every request for food at the moment.”

She said EVM is dependent on the proceeds of the annual CNMI Next Top Chef sponsored by the Hotel Association of Northern Marianas Island for its annual operation.

The event, however, has been postponed until the Covid-19 crisis is resolved, she added.

Ajoste said the foundation is also looking for more volunteers to help carry out its programs, especially the emergency food distribution.
