Among other topics, Gov. Arnold I. Palacios spoke about environmental sustainability initiatives while in Tokyo, Japan last week. At the invitation of Tokyo Gov. Yuriko Koike, Palacios presented alongside other dignitaries from other major cities as part of the City Leaders Program – Sustainable High City Tech Tokyo 2024 Summit. He talked about the CNMI’s commitment to transitioning to renewable energy, the Green Growth Initiative, and how sustainability is rooted in both science and island wisdom and tradition. In his remarks, Palacios also mentioned that the CNMI just completed the first greenhouse gas inventory with help from the U.S. National Renewable Energy Laboratory.
