“CARTER was never a teacher at our K-12 school, Eucon International School. Carter first came to Eucon seeking employment in late June 2023. We never saw him again after the first week of September 2023. During that time, he taught English part-time as a volunteer at our ESL summer camp, which is separate from our regular school and takes place during the summer and winter vacations. All summer ESL camp attendees were South Korean tourists on Saipan with their parents or guardians.
“After the allegations against Carter surfaced, Eucon conducted an internal investigation. At no point was Carter alone with a student while he was at Eucon, and we never received any reports of misconduct by Carter from any ESL camp attendee, parent, or guardian.
“In the future, Eucon will ensure that this situation does not happen again. As a community, the people of Saipan are naturally very welcoming, hospitable, and generous. However, we must learn from this painful lesson that evil people will seek to take advantage of our community’s kindness. We should never stop being hospitable, but we must be extremely careful not to let something like this happen again.”
