Assistant U.S. Attorney Kirk Schuler is the prosecutor while court-appointed defense attorney Colin Thompson represented Sun.
Sun, who has been on island the past eight years, was due for sentencing in Superior Court on July 21 when FBI special agent Haejun Park arrested him after the defendant presented at the Saipan airport a Chinese passport that belonged to another person.
Sun was about to board a plane to China.
The Superior Court continued Sun’s sentencing hearing for Aug. 18. Sun was convicted by a jury for receiving stolen property — 100 boxes of Polo shirts from the L&T garment factory warehouse in Lower Base.
