Ex-Rotary Club president to be buried at veterans cemetery

Rotary Club president Glen Perez said they were sad to hear of Brazel’s death.

“He was always a fighter, and I’m very sure we could have seen him among the supporters and those who are battling cancer in the Marianas March Against Cancer on Friday night,” Perez said.

Brazel had been an active Rotarian since 2004. He was inducted president on July 1 last year, but he resigned on Aug. 4, citing health reasons.

Perez, who was the club’s vice president, took over as president.

“The Rotary Club members will surely miss Brazel,” Perez said.

CNMI Military and Veterans Affairs Executive Director Ruth Coleman said  Brazel will be buried at the CNMI Veterans Cemetery in Marpi on Friday at 10:30 a.m.

Brazel will be the sixth person to be buried at the cemetery this year. Four veterans and three dependents have died since January, but one of them was buried at the Chalan Kanoa cemetery.

“Brazel will be laid alongside all the other veterans who have been honored for the sacrifices that they have given to defend our country,” Coleman said.

She said Brazel will be given full military honors during the funeral.

“We have already sent a request to the 9th Mission Support Command from Hawaii,” Coleman said.
