Famous Japan beauty specialist launches perfume on Guam

Famed Japanese transgender make-up artist and TV personality Ikko launched her new perfume, Gorgeous, before adoring fans at the DFS Galleria last week.

The talented beauty specialist never falters to draw crowd wherever she goes and is compared to some of America’s fashion stalwarts.

Ikko who is on her “Technique of Women Power (Enjoy Being Beautiful) world tour show made the launching during DFS’s 50th anniversary celebration.

DFS is the world’s largest luxury travel retailer with over 150 shops worldwide.

“Ikko is very beautiful,” said Atoko Yamagi, 26, a Japanese tourist.

“She is a very fun character,” added Yuki Moroyushi, 27.

Tourists and locals alike waited patiently for an hour at DFS’s front entrance before walking to a glittery pink runway adorned with chandelier that leads to a heart-shaped throne where Ikko held an autograph session for the public.

Amid the flashing lights and glittering cameras, Ikko also gave away beauty secrets for both men and women.

“She is a phenomenon, because Ikko  is well-loved and well-known in Japan. Ikko is famous for her beauty advice, movie appearances, talk show, and her long perfect legs,” said Crimsona a well-known local make-up artist.

“She is more feminine than a female,” said Yumiko Takemura, 27.

In the old times, Crimsona said men also assumed the roles of women in Japan through the Kabuki shows.

“Ikko is an inspiration to me and many other makeup artists, as well as cosmetologists and freelance hair dressers.

Ikko is an icon to the Japanese, with beauty and hair markets, and I believe that her expertise and professionalism has given insight to the beauty world and she inspires people who want to improve their looks and offers advice on trends,” said Crimsona.

Ikko, who attended a beauty college, formed her first make-up studio in 1992 called “Atelier Ikko.”

“She is a beauty college graduate from the Fukuoka Prefecture and has trained as a make-up artist for eight years, appears on such Japanese TV shows as On Mans (Nippon Television), Sekai Baribari Value (Mainichi Broadcasting System), and Mentai Wide (Fukuoka Broadcasting System, Wednesday Commentator) and has also published several books,” said Francis Guerrero, DFS promotions manager.
