Saipan and Northern Islands Soil and Water Conservation District Isidoro C. Cabrera said they briefed Sablan about the Kagman watershed project which was discontinued last year due to lack of federal funding.
The project aims to create a flood control and irrigation system for commercial farm plots and involves the construction of waterways and a 70-million gallon water reservoir.
So far, $3.1 million has already been spent for the first and second phases of the project, which requires an additional $6.8 million, Cabrera said.
“We gave [Sablan] all the information that he needs with regards to the watershed project and we hope he will be able to convince the Congress to fund it,” Cabrera said.
