Superior Court Judge Joseph Camacho retained the $16,250 bail order he each imposed on Juan Laniyo Norita, 48, and Jerome Kaipat Norita, 23.
They are being held on charges of assault and battery, aggravated assault and battery, assault with a dangerous weapon, and disturbing the peace.
Police had yet to arrest the third defendant.
It was not mentioned if charges were to be filed against the driver of the vehicle.
Variety learned that the 17-year-old was to be brought by her family to a dental clinic to check her jaw that was injured in the vehicular incident.
Assistant Attorney General Nicole Driscoll represented the government.
Assistant Public Defender Benjamin Petersburg was appointed to represent Juan, while the court had yet to appoint Jerome’s counsel.
Detective Raymond Borja said police were dispatched to an automobile pedestrian accident in Dandan at about 7:19 a.m. on Dec. 2, 2001.
The responding officer noticed a group of individuals standing around a female juvenile who was lying on the roadway. She was having difficulty breathing and blood was coming out of mouth, police said.
The driver, Pantaleon De Jillas, 70, was being kicked while on the ground by Jerome’s father, and Jerome’s uncle, Fred Kaipat, police said.
De Jillas was earlier punched in the face by Jerome that caused the driver to fall down, police said.
Ernie Matagolai De Jillas, the driver’s son, suffered a bleeding right ear after he was tackled by the three individuals, police said.
The elder De Jillas had a fractured left jaw that needed medical attention, police said.
Pantaleon told police he tried to avoid colliding with the victim.
After the impact, Pantaleon checked on the victim, but was assaulted by the defendants.
