Federal court will not allow any camera in courtroom

“If the press calls…tell them that the pilot program allows courts to decide if they want to allow cameras in non-jury civil trials and that our policy is not to allow any cameras ever, which is in accord with the policy of the U.S. Judicial Conference,” law clerk Randy K.R. Schmidt informed  chief deputy clerk William J. Bezzant.

The federal court yesterday released an e-mail, stating that Schmidt had spoken with Chief Judge Alex R. Munson who said the “[court] will continue to follow [its] current practice of not allowing any sort of camera in the courtroom.”

The Judicial Council of the Ninth Circuit had authorized television cameras in certain district court proceedings, covering 11 jurisdictions including the CNMI, Guam, Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon and Washington.
