The victim, a cashier in her mid-40s, was scheduled to be brought by her relatives to Australia for surgery.
Bullet fragments from the .22 caliber rifle fired by the yet unidentified suspect were still lodged behind the victim’s left ear, a source said.
The masked robber shot the cashier after she handed over $200.
The bullet hit the bridge of her nose and exited behind her left ear, Variety was told.
The ATFE will help DPS in the investigation.
The .22 caliber rifle can be legally owned, a source said.
“DPS is also investigating records of all stolen weapons,” the source added.
Police said the suspect is approximately 5’9”- 6’ in height, weighing between 175 and 220 lbs., wearing a black long-sleeve shirt with blue trim army combat uniform pants. He used a dark cloth to cover his face.
