Feeder 3 covers Gualo Rai intersection, Chalan Pale Arnold, Chalan Monsignor Road and several other areas.
“At 1:58 p.m., the line crew had experienced a problem with the Air Break System on Feeder 3 in Gualo Rai,” the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. said.
CUC added that as the crew tried to open the device, “the entire grid had automatically tripped due to a malfunction.”
CUC said the protective relays at Power Plant 4 were automatically affected, thereby isolating four engines from the island grid.
To protect the remaining engines, Power Plant 1 personnel “were required to manually trip Feeders 2 and 4 due to the lack of electrical generation.”
The Feeders affected were immediately put back online within 45 minutes, CUC said.
