Physical therapist Dana McFadden attributed this year’s low turnout to lack of advertising.
However, the other diabetes awareness activities that were held almost every week prior to Friday drew a considerable number of participants.
McFadden said of the 25 who went through the health screening, 18 had elevated blood sugar.
The screenings held on Friday were the same as last year. These included blood sugar and blood pressure tests, foot exam and preventative foot care consultation, consultation with nurse educator Bobbie Ayers, dietician Louise Oakley and vision checks by the Marianas Eye Institute staffers.
Physical therapy department manager Pam Carhill said the fair was held for their staff, their families and the general public.
