SUVA (Pacnews) — As part of preparations for the African, Caribbean and Pacific summit of leaders next month, a senior Fiji civil servant chairing the organizing committee, has left for Brussels to brief the ACP Secretariat on final arrangements.
Emitai Boladuadua will also submit budget proposals for the hosting of the summit, which is expected to see one of the largest gathering of world leaders in the Pacific.
The Fiji government has committed F$2.5 million ($1.2 million) and discussions in Brussels will be centered on the additional $2.5 million the EU normally gives for such meetings.
With only a month away from the summit, Boladudua said confirmations from ACP member states are flowing in with Botswana the latest inclusion bringing the number of world leaders attendance to 14.
Botswana joins its African neighbors Kenya, Namibia, Guinea and Eritrea all of which have confirmed their attendance.
