Filipino group raising funds for typhoon victims

Yesterday, UFO president Olive Yana  said they will be accepting only financial donations.

“We cannot accommodate commodities and goods because it would be easier and faster to donate money,” she added.

According to Yana, UFO will coordinate with the Philippine Consulate General on Saipan to deliver the solicited funds to Manila.

Consul General Medardo Macaraig has instructed that the funds will be directly deposited into the account of the Department of Social Welfare and Development at the Land Bank of the Philippines, Yana said.

UFO will mobilize its 14 member organizations to collect donations from their members and the community.

“As soon as we can collect the funds we can send them right away because money is badly needed by our countrymen,” she said.

Donations can be delivered to Olive Yana, with  telephone number 285-7893, or to Amamae Adaza who can be reached at 483-5237.

Yana said all donations will be properly acknowledged.

She said members of the community can also deliver their donations to any of the following UFO member organizations — Marianas Institute of Filipino CPAs and Accountants, Namfrel, CNMI Power Corp. Inc.
