Filipino workers encouraged to enroll in home décor, plan reading courses

The home décor and sewing course initiated by the Philippine Consulate General Office will be conducted at the Filipino Workers Resource Center every Sunday from Jan 18 to March 8, 9 a.m. to 12 noon.

Twenty-eight have already enrolled and the registration is still ongoing, Delia S. Palomar, Philippine Overseas Labor Office administrative staff member told Variety.

Applicants must have  basic sewing skills and must be able to operate a sewing machine.

For the plan reading, eight have enrolled for the 50-student class that will start on Feb. 1 and end on March 22.

The classes will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and will be conducted by the Marianas Association of Filipino Engineers and Architects on Saipan.

The training, which is open to workers in the construction industry, will provide them with information regarding plan reading in mechanical, civil, structural, electrical, architectural projects, as well as plumbing and safety and compliance.

Registration is a first come first served basis and an applicant is requested to bring his or her entry permit or copy of the CNMI labor renewal processing receipt.
