“We are working on that with them. We’re negotiating a settlement agreement,” he added.
“They still have to pay the exclusive license fee of $15.75 million to the Commonwealth, as well as the $3.1 million regulatory fee to the Commonwealth Casino Commission. They also owe about $250,000 to [the Department of] Public Lands for public land lease payments,” he added.
Atalig said that he is working hard to get these amounts paid “one step at a time.”
“As more information comes, I’ll be happy to share it with you,” he added.
On Friday, the CNMI Lottery Commission approved the IPI request to extend for three years the deadline to pay its $20 million community benefit fund or CBF contribution, and to defer for five years the payment of $36 million in CBF that IPI failed to remit in previous years.
For its part, the Commonwealth Casino Commission is scheduled to meet today, Tuesday, at 10 a.m. to discuss issues pertaining to IPI, including its extended payroll delay.
IPI representatives will be present to provide updates to the commission.
