Finance upgrades computer system

A NEW version of the current software being used by Department of Finance for its financial management system is currently being upgraded, which means that all the department’s computers are temporarily unoperational.

However, the system upgrade is not going to affect the on-going processing of refunds and rebates, acting Finance Secretary Esther Ada said yesterday.

“This is just a routine upgrade,” Ada told Variety.

All computers at the Department of Finance, including its offices on Rota and Tinian, are “down” as a result of the upgrading process.

Acting Electronic Data Processing Director Marie Muna said the process started Wednesday night.

Meanwhile, Ada said they will continue releasing refund checks as scheduled, which is every other Monday.

Refund checks in the amount of $1.9 million have already been issued by Finance.
