Fire hits car rental office; no injuries reported

Firefighters responded to a blaze at a car rental office in Garapan on Sunday afternoon, and brought the situation under control within 30 minutes. No injuries were reported.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services received the call at 5:37 p.m. and arrived on scene two minutes later. Responders found flames and heavy smoke coming from the rear of a two-story concrete building that housed a storefront in front and a car rental operation in the back.

DFEMS Public Information Officer Robert Mojica said two teams were deployed to battle the blaze.

“One team set up outside and directed water through a side door to contain the flames, while the second team prepared to enter through the main door of the car rental,” Mojica said.The fire was declared under control at 6:04 p.m.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Division of Fire and Arson Investigation.
