Fitbeat marks first year of sweat and fitness

It started as an aerodance and cardio/kickboxing class in 2017 led by fitness instructor Joel Vallega at the Saipan Music and Dance Studio.

“I feel so happy and very proud to have led this program,” Vallega said, noting that its participants are mostly working mothers and fathers and even senior citizens who want to keep fit.

On Saipan, the program is held at Garapan Central Park, Monday to Friday, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.; and every Saturday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

On Sunday, the Fitbeat program is held at the Carolinian Utt from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m.

On Tinian, because of the Covid-19 pandemic, residents participate in the online sessions conducted by Vallega on Facebook.

He said the participants motivate him to help more people who want to stay healthy.

“My passion is for fitness and health, and I’m willing to help anyone who wants to lead a healthy lifestyle,” he said.

Second lady Wella Palacios, in a separate interview, said the goal is  “to stay fit and healthy” as she expressed appreciation to all participants on Saipan and Tinian, for their continued support.

She said they are also planning to expand the program to Rota.

“It is free and open to all ages,  young or old people who want to stay healthy so please join!”
