Fitial accepts 3 board members’ resignations

They are former Fund vice chairman Jerry P. Crisostimo and board member Francisco Rosario as well as Joaquin S. Manglona of Commonwealth Public Utilities Commission, who resigned a month after his confirmation.

Fitial said he recognized their personal reasons for resigning and thanked them for their service.

In an interview, Press Secretary Angel A. Demapan said the administration is grateful to these “fine gentlemen for accepting the call of duty when they were considered for nomination.”

He said Crisostimo, Rosario and Manglona have been of utmost assistance to the Fund and CPUC.

“Because their resignations were due to personal matters that warrant their undivided attention, the governor accepted their resignations,” Demapan said.

He  added that the governor and lt. governor extend their well-wishes and sincere appreciation to the former board members for their service to the community.

Meanwhile, the governor once again submitted the nomination of Kwang Joong Kim, president of Laolao Bay Golf Resort, to be the non-U.S. citizen member of the Marianas Visitors Authority board.

Kim will represent Saipan’s business community on the MVA board for a four-year term.

He will fill in the seat vacated by former MVA  Chairman Jerry Tan whose reappointment was rejected by the Senate.

Fitial appointed Kim a few months ago but when the 90-day period was about to lapse without the Senate acting on the appointment, the governor withdrew the nomination so he could re-submit it.
