Fitial, Inos welcome new TSA chief

Walker’s new assignment here is also his first official duty as an employee of TSA under the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Walker is new to the CNMI and has so far enjoyed the warmth and beauty of the islands and the people.

Fitial and Inos welcomed Walker and offered well wishes as he takes on his new role with TSA.

“I am very much pleased to meet Director Walker as he begins his duty here. The TSA staff has been doing a wonderful job here. I am sure that Mr. Walker will continue to ensure that their responsibilities are carried out diligently and efficiently,” said Fitial.

Although Walker is on a fresh start with TSA, the governor and lt. governor were impressed with his extensive background and expertise in law enforcement. The new TSA chief was previously based in the state of Arizona where he served as chief probation officer and chief of police.

“Mr. Walker’s experience and background is a great added resource to our community. We certainly hope he will enjoy his stay here both professionally and personally,” Inos said.

The governor reiterated that the local economy is heavily dependent on its visitor industry and that it was important to treat everyone courteously and respectfully. “It’s not a common problem with TSA, but we still want to stress the importance of promoting the island spirit and hospitality so that our visitors will keep coming back here,” Fitial said.
