Fitial urged to stop ignoring queries on Aggreko deal

He said the governor and Muna “deceptively pulled a two-year-old bid proposal by Aggreko” and claimed that it was the only viable and beneficial power reserve deal for the CNMI.

Cruz said he discovered that Marianas Express Lines Ltd., which will ship Aggreko’s containers to Saipan, is owned by Tan Holdings.

Fitial is a former Tan Holdings executive.

“All of you failed to disclose the shipping company and its agencies involved and who owned the shipping company,” Cruz said in a letter to the governor and Muna.

Cruz also criticized the governor and Muna for dismissing the suggestion to ask President Bush to declare Saipan’s power problem as a “humanitarian disaster.”

“Traffic is unsafe due to no traffic lights, crime rate is escalating, public services are hampered because computer systems are down,  frozen food is spoiled, appliances are broken,  there is no water supply, medical needs such as electrical equipment used for the ill and disabled at home are dangerously challenged by outages, DPS, Fire and EMS. are responding to situations in the dark especially if there’s a domestic violence or disturbance, — the list goes on Mr. Muna and all because of a man-made disaster,” Cruz said.

He said the governor’s inability to address the problem and “neglect of duty” is sufficient grounds for his immediate impeachment.
