Baka said he welcomes the idea but refused to share with the media his resumé until the governor has submitted his nomination to the Senate, which must confirm his appointment.
Variety learned that Baka is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and earned his law degree from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 1989.
He served as assistant U.S. attorney for the CNMI from 1997 to 2004 before going to private practice.
In 2006, he became the deputy attorney general of the CNMI.
Matthew Gregory resigned as attorney general on Sept. 27 to pursue his solo private practice.
Baka yesterday reminded the media that his office should always be referred to as the Office of the Attorney General and not as the Attorney General’s Office or the AGO.
