Last Friday, the department distributed consent forms and vaccine information to parents.
Diaz, who is also the special assistant to Public Health Secretary Joseph Kevin Villagomez, said the new flu vaccines are now available at CHC’s immunization clinic and children’s clinic.
She said community members may also get vaccine shots at Pacific Medical Center, Marianas Medical Center and at Dr. Ada’s clinic.
Likewise, the other health centers on Saipan, Rota and Tinian have flu vaccines.
The department encourages all persons older than six months and who are not allergic to eggs or have not had a serious allergic reaction to a flu vaccine before to get vaccinated.
Diaz said the flu vaccination will continue until the second week of December.
To prevent the spread of flu in the community, Diaz urges everyone to continue observing the Flu Watch steps which include washing hands, avoiding sick people, not touching the eyes, nose and mouth, teaching other how to prevent the flu, covering the mouth when coughing and sneezing, and having an emergency plan ready in case of getting sick which includes keeping a two-week supply of food and medicine at home.
Last week, Public Health reported that CNMI was experiencing an early wave of seasonal flu infection.
