Former AG Brown-Blackburn receives Senate resolution

FORMER Attorney General Pamela Brown-Blackburn received  from the senators a framed copy of Senate Resolution 23-11, which recognizes and commends her for her “selfless service for the betterment of public interest in the CNMI and as an advocate for human rights.”

Brown-Blackburn left for Seattle, Washington four days after receiving the resolution from the Senate on Nov. 24, 2023. She expressed her sincerest gratitude to the senators.

Authored by Sen. Paul A. Manglona, the resolution commends Brown-Blackburn “for the numerous trainings and certifications throughout her inspiring professional career in the legal system, as well her 30 years of her legal experience, many of which were spent contributing to the livelihood of the people of the CNMI and the Pacific region.”

Her public service and private practice “cultivated her diverse legal expertise, reputable contributions and extensive knowledge of the Pacific region,” the resolution stated.

 A cum laude of University of Washington with degrees in Broadcast Journalism and Anthropology, Brown-Blackburn served as CNMI AG from December 2003 to January 2006.

When she first arrived in the islands in 1989, her first job in the Commonwealth government was assistant attorney general.

She is also a former chief legal counsel of the 7th, 8th and 9th Legislatures, and a U.S. labor ombudsman of the Department of the Interior’s Office of Insular Affairs.

Before she became AG in 2003, Brown-Blackburn served as legal counsel for then-Gov. Juan N. Babauta.
