Former cook sues employer

Raja Ram Raut, through  attorney Colin M. Thompson, named Taro Sue and five “Does” in his six-page complaint filed on Friday in federal court.

Raut said his former employer did not pay his overtime compensation and minimum wage, and breached their contract.

Taro Sue could not be reached for comment.

Raut, who was hired as cook in Jan. 2008 for a one-year  contract, claimed Taro Sue dismissed him.

Raut did not mention in his complaint when he was terminated “without excuse or justification” by his former employer.

Raut said he signed the contract for $3.55 per hour rate, overtime compensation at one and half times regular rate payable by check in bi-weekly basis, and worked five days a week.

Raut said he worked more than 40 hours per week for Taro Sue.

“The defendants failed to maintain full and accurate records of the hours actually worked by [Raut],” said Thompson.
