Covenant Saipan Reps. Raymond D. Palacios and Ralph S. Demapan, are offering to haul the junk cars of their constituents.
Palacios said junk cars are not only eyesores but also pose as health threat to the community because they are breeding grounds for insects that carry viruses and bacteria.
He said leakages from the junk cars’ motor oil also cause environmental and health concerns.
Residents interested to have their junk cars hauled for free should contact Palacios at 664-8923 or Demapan at 664-8899.
A law was enacted in 2005 appropriating money to the Saipan mayor’s office to remove junk cars from residential areas and government offices around the island.
The junk cars were sold to scrap metal shops.
