Free health screening for Filipino workers

Registration starts at 6:30 a.m. while the screening begins at 7 a.m. and ends at 12 noon.

This free health screening program by the Philippine Consulate General, the Philippine Overseas Labor Office and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration in cooperation with the Filipino Volunteer Medical Team, the CNMI Pharmacists Association, Hardt Eye Clinic and volunteer Filipino community members.

The medical services include blood pressure, blood sugar and eye-vision check-ups. Those who are availing of blood sugar level check-up must refrain from taking solid and liquid food from 12 midnight prior to actual testing until after blood samples have been obtained from them during the health screening.

Last Sept. 4, 2011, a total of 387 Filipino workers were served. Of this number, 316 blood sugar and blood pressure were taken by medical volunteers.

Hardt Eye Clinic served 17 eye patients.

This program is being conducted to increase the level of awareness on diabetes prevention and control, hypertension prevention and eye/vision pressure correction among Filipino workers.
