Friends of the Arts’ ‘Three Musketeers’

The 17th century tale follows young d’Artagnan’s quest to join the French royalty’s guard, the Musketeers.  While new on the scene, d’Artagnan meets the “Three Musketeers,” already famous — or, in some circles, infamous — for their courage and many exploits.  He joins this group, and finds himself caught up in a fascinating society full of daring adventures, sword fights, intrigue, and much more.  The book led to several theater plays, various musical stage adaptations and 34 movies and television series, not to mention the various sequels in books, stage, and film.  This is a classic tale, both in print and on the stage, a story time-honored and still worth its weight in entertainment value today.

Recognizing the captivating and charming nature of the story, the Friends of the Arts, with the help of Willis Hall, is bringing to Saipan a comedic and highly amusing version of “The Three Musketeers” this coming weekend on April 29, 30, and May 1.

In this version, FOA is taking over the play last minute from the great La Comédie-Française, or French National Theater, and is having some difficulty with French names, sword fighting up to standard, and replacing 200 actors from the Comédie-Française.

The audience is drawn in, using a “Theater in the Round” method of presenting the tale, all to the great amusement of both actors and audience alike.

Willis Hall’s adaption of “The Three Musketeers,” as presented by FOA, is sure to inspire many laughs and delight audiences of all ages.

This play will be performed at the multi-purpose center, and is the final performance for those carrying a FOA season ticket.
