AFTER a 10-cent hike earlier this month, fuel prices went down by 10 cents last week.

Mobil Oil Marianas reduced its prices on Wednesday while Shell Marianas followed suit the next day.

Following a 10-cent-per-gallon price reduction across all fuel grades, regular gas on Saipan went down to $5.16 a gallon, premium gas to $5.61 a gallon, and diesel to $5.33 a gallon.

On Rota, Calvo Enterprises reduced by 10 cents its regular gasoline price on Saturday to $6.54 a gallon, and the diesel price to $9.97 a gallon.

A government employee, Joselito Espino said it’s “fortunate” that fuel prices are down by 10 cents again. He said he hopes that fuel prices will continue to go down.

CNBC reported that U.S. crude futures edged lower Wednesday to close below $71 per barrel, after selling off steeply in the previous session on reports that Israel will not attack Iran’s oil facilities.

“The U.S. benchmark tumbled more than 4% on Tuesday after Israel told the U.S. that it will limit its retaliatory strikes to military targets in Iran, senior Biden administration officials told NBC News.

“Crude oil prices have given up most of the gains made in the wake of Iran’s Oct. 1 ballistic missile attack on Israel, as fears of an oil supply disruption in the Middle East have eased,” CNBC added.
