FUEL prices are down for the second time this month.

“I thank the Lord, my prayer is answered, again,” said parking booth attendant, Jose Espino.

“God is good,” he added.

When fuel prices dropped earlier in March, Espino said he prayed that they would continue to fall, as the $105 he had been spending on gas was too much for a low-income earner like him. Now, he estimates that he only needs to spend about $95 every two weeks for his daily commute to work.

On Tuesday, Mobil Oil Marianas lowered its regular gasoline price to $5.06 per gallon, down from $5.16, and reduced the premium gasoline price to $5.51, down from $5.61. The diesel price remains unchanged at $5.289 per gallon.

Shell Marianas followed suit on Tuesday night.

On Tinian, Tinian Fuel Services had not yet implemented Tuesday’s rollback, but it reduced its gasoline price to $7.109 and diesel price to $7.399 on April 10, 2025.

On Rota, Calvo Enterprises’ regular gasoline price remained at $6.64 per gallon as of Tuesday. However, on Wednesday last week, it lowered the diesel price to $9.62 per gallon, down from $9.72.

Global prices

According to Reuters, oil prices edged lower on Wednesday, “as shifting U.S. tariff policies fueled uncertainty, prompting traders to weigh the potential impact of the U.S.-China trade war on economic growth and energy demand.”

“Brent crude futures eased 18 cents, or 0.3%, to $64.49 per barrel by 0315 GMT, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude fell 16 cents, or 0.3%, to $61.17. Both benchmarks fell 0.3% on Tuesday,” Reuters reported.

It added that global oil demand “is expected to grow at its slowest rate for five years in 2025 and U.S. production rises will also taper off, due to U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariffs on trading partners and their retaliatory moves, the International Energy Agency said on Tuesday.”
