GRACE Christian Academy is aiming to open a daycare center for children ages 2 to 3 years old on its Navy Hill campus possibly by October, according to school principal Beth Nunez.
The school is working with the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs to be able to subsidize the tuition of qualified children, Nunez said.
The daycare center will have enough space for around 14 children. The curriculum will develop their fine motor, large motor, and tactile skills while also incorporating letters, numbers, colors, discovery, age-appropriate science, socialization and more.
Nunez said GCA decided to open a daycare center after they recognized the need for it.
“From what we heard there’s just so much need for childcare,” Nunez said. “I know it’s been an interest of GCA for some time.”
GCA currently conducts classes for students from pre-K to 12th grade. Nunez hopes their daycare center will be a “blessing” for families who want to have all their children dropped to one location for their education.
“We would love to be a place where a family can come and have all of their children, no matter their age, able to receive an excellent education. We provide a college preparatory program that also focuses on providing character training, leadership opportunities, and an overall well-rounded academic and extracurricular program from pre-school through high school,” Nunez said.
