GMH losing thousands from water leak

The water leak, caused by a break to the water line near the entrance of the hospital, began in mid-November, Ballendorf said. She anticipates the leak will be fixed by mid-January.

“It’s a much bigger problem than fixing a leak. We have to move a meter and we have to replace an entire water line,” said Ballendorf. “Right now we have to give them a temporary meter that doesn’t cost them anything.”

The cost to replace the water line will be covered by GWA’s bond money, she said, adding the project will be one of the first water lines GWA will replace.

“It’s hundreds of thousands of dollars, but it’s coming out of our bond money; we’ve already budgeted for it,” she concluded.
