“The turnout was very good. The sea was so calm and the weather perfect. Everybody had a good time and everything was just great,” Saipan Sea Ventures president Miki Pellegrino told the Variety.
Pellegrino said Saipan Sea Ventures will be donating 50 percent of the proceeds from the dinner cruise fundraising to the CHC Volunteers Association.
She said the success of the fundraising dinner cruise encouraged her to do similar projects in the future.
She is planning to hold another fundraising event for the purchase of a hyperbaric chamber by early next year.
“We are looking toward February for a Valentine cruise next year,” she added.
According to Pellegrino, there are other programs that need funds like the diabetes program for example.
“We are planning to do other fundraising events in the future for other programs that need funding, maybe after the holiday season.”
Saipan Sea Ventures’ boat for the sunset dinner cruise could accommodate 149 individuals.
“We are very thankful to the community for supporting our cause despite the economic hardship. This just goes to show that funds can be raised and goals can be achieved if we work hand in hand,” she said.
The CHC Volunteers Association is targeting to raise $500,000 to purchase a hyperbaric chamber, a large chamber in which the oxygen pressure is above normal for the atmosphere. The hyperbaric chamber is used in treating breathing disorders, decompression illness, or carbon monoxide poisoning.
