Dave Attao, the GOP acting president, said their candidates are ready to file their candidacy this Thursday.
GOP gubernatorial bet Rep. Heinz Hofschneider and his running mate Speaker Arnold I. Palacios will lead the candidates at the Commonwealth Election Commission.
Attao said GOP formed an alliance with independent teams in Rota and Northern Islands but he declined to identify them.
He said the GOP had successfully regrouped and described the political party as “well organized and well balanced.”
“The GOP candidates are experienced individuals in the private sector, government services and community. “We have young, new candidates, male and female,” he said.
In Saipan, GOP’s mayoral bet Donald Pangelinan Flores will lead the candidates in the five precincts.
For precinct 1, the candidates are reelectionist Vice Speaker Joseph Deleon Guerrero, reelectionist Rep. Diego Tenorio Benavente, Janet Ulloa Maratita, Eliceo “Eli” Diaz Cabrera, Antonio “Tony” Pangelinan Sablan and Joseph Mafnas Palacios.
For precinct 2, Eric Benavente Atalig and Manuel Agulto Tenorio; precinct 3, reelectionists Rep. Ramon Angailen Tebuteb, Rep. Ray Naraja Yumul, Rep. Frank Santos Delacruz; and Danny Iwashita Aquino, Jr., Ramon Sablan Salas, and Jesus Manibusan Castro.
Frank Dlg. Camacho and Juan Reyes Babauta are candidates for precinct 4, while reelectionist Rep. Rosemond Blanco Santos, and Jose Sablan Demapan, precinct 5.
Senate President Pete Pangelinan Reyes and Rep. Ralph Dlg. Torres are both running for the Senate.
In Tinian, Attao said the GOP will be led by mayoral candidate Ramon Muna Delacruz, with Trenton Brian Conner for a seat in the House of Representatives seat.
Sen. Jude Hofschneider who is seeking a re-election and Frank Quichocho Cruz are also vying for the Senate representing Tinian.
Attao said the party decided to file their candidacy all at the same time on Thursday because that’s when the off-island candidates will be arriving on Saipan.
Before filing their candidacy, Attao said the GOP leadership, including all the candidates and supporters, will meet at the Republican Party’s headquarters for a final briefing.
On Saturday, he said GOP will have its kick-off rally at the Civic Center in Susupe from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The GOP will have a motorcade throughout the island with all the precincts as their starting point at 9 a.m., he said.
Attao said GOP will have no problem with funding since the national leadership has been doling out financial supports for their local candidates. “We are getting support from the national GOP.”
