According to Fitial, the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs needs an administrative officer III for its office on Rota.
The Department of Finance, he added, needs a tax technician, a revenue technician, a revenue officer I, and an administrative assistant.
“The filling of these vacant positions are of vital importance for the efficient delivery of essential public services. Continuing appropriations are available for the full personnel cost associated with these vacancies,” the governor said in a letter to the Legislature.
Personnel salaries remain the single biggest expense of the cash-strapped government which continues to operate on a $163.5 million budget despite revenue projections that are $10 million less.
The government, which pays higher than the private sector, is the preferred employer of many locals.
In FY 2005, the government employed close to 5,000 workers.
But this is now down to under 4,000, according to government statistics.
