GOVERNOR Arnold I. Palacios on Wednesday nominated Bridge Capital Vice President Bart Jackson to the Commonwealth Ports Authority board of directors.

Jackson will serve the remaining term of Jose Ayuyu, who resigned from the board in October after board member Steve Mesngon, the governor’s appointee, joined former Gov. Ralph DLG Torres’ appointees, Thomas Villagomez and Joseph Diaz, in electing Ramon A. Tebuteb as the new chair.

In his appointment letter to Jackson, Palacios said he and Lt. Gov. David M. Apatang “are confident in your qualifications and believe that you will commit your time and efforts to effectively represent the interests of our community on this critical board.”

In his letter to Senate President Edith Deleon Guerrero, the governor said he and Apatang are confident that Jackson will carry out the functions and mandates of the CPA board. The nomination requires Senate consent.

A longtime resident of the Marianas, Jackson is a former general manager of PIC Saipan and a former board member of the Marianas Visitors Authority and the Hotel Association of the Northern Mariana Islands. On Guam, he was a board member of the Guam Visitors Bureau and served as chair of the Guam Hotel and Restaurant Association.
