GOVERNOR Arnold I. Palacios on Monday approved a local bill to increase the pachinko slot machine and poker machine fees on Tinian.
Authored by Minority Leader Patrick San Nicolas, House Local Bill 23-33 is now Tinian Local Law 23-10.
It increases to $6,000 from $4,000 the annual slot machine and poker machine license fees in the Second Senatorial District. The local bill was passed unanimously by the Tinian Legislative Delegation.
The governor also approved H.L.B. 23-40 which re-appropriates leftover funds from two separate earned bond interest income allotments for Tinian.
Also authored by San Nicolas, H.L.B 23-40 is now T.L.L. 23-9.
Its funding sources are the $87,465 remaining balance from the earned bond interest income appropriated by T.L.L. 20-7, and the $30,000 provided by T.L.L. 22-4.
T.L.L. 23-9 re-appropriates the monies as follows:
1) $50,000 for the Tinian Veterans Memorial Park.
2) $37,465 for the Youth Center Tennis Court resurfacing.
3) $15,000 for a Tinian slaughterhouse generator.
4) $15,000 for the San Jose Village Cemetery storage.
The local law designates the Tinian mayor as the expenditure authority.
