Governor’s Broadband Bootcamp on Rota concludes with 23 graduates

(NMC) — The Rota participants of the Governor’s Broadband Bootcamp are now proficient in fiber optic and broadband technologies after completing a 19-week program that ran from January to May 2025.

The 23 graduates are Jenice Atalig, Albert Tristan Hocog Calvo, Noel Calvo, Jennet Montano Esguerra, Klowee Sablan Fujihira, Beyonce Hope M. Hocog, Baryl Nathan Hocog, Dean Reynold Atalig Manglona, Richard Songsong Manglona, Troy Manglona, Freska Bree Rosario Manglona, Jennifer Manglona, Deron Taitano Mendiola, Leo Mereb, Ivan Mereb Jr., Vander Genelaso Myers, Josh Santos Ogo, William Pendergrass II, Shelby Lee Rangamar, Chevy C. San Nicolas, RoyJoe Pangelinan San Nicolas, Jeremy Solang, and Anabel Sikyang Ulloa.

During the program, the Rota participants learned about fiber optic deployment, broadband networks, trenching, as well as career skills including time management, fundamentals of Microsoft Excel, emotional intelligence and customer service excellence.

“Completing the Governor’s Broadband Bootcamp has been an incredible journey for all of us here on Rota,” said RoyJoe Pangelinan San Nicolas, a Rota participant. “Over the past 19 weeks, we not only gained hands-on expertise in fiber optic deployment and broadband networks but also developed valuable career skills like time management, emotional intelligence and customer service. This certification opens new doors for us to contribute directly to improving connectivity in our community, and we’re proud to be part of building a stronger digital future for Rota and the CNMI.”

Their success brings us closer to ensuring that every corner of our islands has access to the opportunities that robust connectivity provides.”

Funded by a Broadband Equity, Access and Deployment grant through the CNMI Office of the Governor and the CNMI Broadband Policy and Development Program, the bootcamp is administered by Northern Marianas College’s Center for Training and Innovation in conjunction with the Northern Marianas Technical Institute, Island Training Solutions and the CNMI Department of Labor-Workforce Development Agency.
