A CNMI government employee has filed a complaint with the police after she learned that someone was using her personal data for cellular services in California.
Department of Public Safety spokesman Pete C. Muna said Coastal Resources Management permit manager Vicky Lizama also filed a fraud complaint with the Federal Trade Commission Fraud Network.
Muna said Lizama reported the incident to DPS because it was one of the requirements before filing a case with the Federal Trade Commission.
Muna said Lizama learned about the illegal use of her name when a local bank denied her loan application due to alleged delinquency in paying cellular services in California. But Lizama said she never stayed in California.
In other news, a 10-year-old boy was caught for allegedly stealing a set of lighters worth $28 from Duty Free Shoppers in Garapan on Tuesday night.
The boy allegedly picked up the lighters, hid them in his pants, and walked out from the establishment.
