Governor Juan N. Babauta has urged acting Secretary of Commerce Fermin M. Atalig to help the government meet collect at least $21.6 million in alcohol and tobacco taxes for fiscal year 2003.
The Department of Commerce should also be “reactivated” as an “arm” of the government in promoting businesses, the governor said. The department has to be tapped in the promotion of CNMI economic development, he added.
Atalig agrees.
“We need concentration on these concerns raised by the governor,” he told Variety.
